the incredible majority of mass shootings do not happen in schools. they happen in inner cities. and the incredible majority of crime is committed by people who have prior criminal history. so when excess crime is used as a reason to physically remove someone from society for increasingly longer periods, of course crime will drop precipitously.
if they wanted to be even half honest, they would only be looking at shootings by "assault weapons", but that number has been flat basically forever. more people are killed by kiddie pools, clubs, and even bare hands, than those killed by "assault weapons".
You're possibly misreading the chart, but it isn't your fault because it's labeled as "mass killing deaths" but later on they say "where an assault rifle was involved." The chart isn't accurate, or definitely not labeled accurately.
