The event was a panel that featured four speakers, one of which was Huwaida Arraf, a local Palestinian human rights activist who the Jewish Community Relations Council says should not have been allowed to speak given her anti-Israel stance and rhetoric.

That's a stupid reason, and I say that as a supporter of Israel.

A few things can be true at once. Diversity events are stupid. Mouthing off about Israel at such an event is pretty dumb as well. It is striking they take issue with the symptoms and not the actual problem.
