Occasionally one snaps and kills his family (NFL players, that is). Much like, well, MMA fighters and wrestlers and the like. Unfortunately…
I’m sure the reasons for that are “complex”, but probably not all that hard to guess…
Australian sports players (so AFL, NRL, Rugby Union are best comparison) generally just kill themselves with alarming regularity.
But at least we don’t have the “family murder” Chris Benoit types, as much. I guess that’s at least a “positive”…
Edit: I forgot Rowan Baxter. That’s about as close as Australian sport gets to a “Chris Benoit”-style act of evil…

On a more serious note… Murder-suicides involving children are about the worst of the worst, IMHO…
There are relatively few things you can do that are worse than that, non-sexually…

It’s one of the occasions in which I will agree with prevailing sentiment that it’s a fucking cowardly dog-act to take your own life…
