How about asking those demographics why they are or aren't interested, and ask them what they might like to see as an addition to things (rather than altering or taking away what's already there.) When it comes to tabletop gaming, a lot of people just can't grasp the concept, even when presented as "collective storytelling".
Good idea but like you said collective storytelling may not appeal to everyone. When I played it and some similar games it took me a while to really get into it.
And I don’t get why companies struggle to understand. Like with comic books. Generally speaking women aren’t as into them as men are. That is fine. But they refuse to accept that. Also reminds me when people say “not everything has to have white people” or “not everyone is straight” I just say that that saying goes across the boards and noticing a massive overrepresentation doesn’t make you a bad person.
But you nailed it. Everything doesn’t have to include everything
There are two groups of people involved in this miscalculation: the greedy suits and the leftist zealots. The suits want more money, the zealots want to destroy a western/male/white institution. The latter group present their “profit” strategy to the former group, but it’s a deception. The lack of course correction comes down to a combination of multiple factors: executives covering their own asses, leftists within the company being true believers, and ESG money influencing everything top-down.
