Retirement isn't really a myth, you just have to have a pretty big savings for the last 5 years of your life, and also downsize your living conditions. But this idea of "I'll retire at 40", that is a fucking myth.
Truth is, this is good news for them. If Americans aren't cashing out on their retirement accounts, then that means the banks don't have to actually fork out any real purchasing power back. If they are just pausing financial investments into their retirement, it still causes problems because the investment banks need to keep money coming in to keep the ponzi scheme going, but that's way better than Americans retiring and effectively engaging in a mass run on the banks when the banks tell everyone that there's no money in any retirement fund that hasn't already be spent.
The investment banks are hoping that they can keep this ponzi scheme going until after they die, because when the Boomers actually start really cashing out, the whole Fabian system is going belly up, and everyone on that boat is getting trapped in the capsized ship.
Anyways, I'm just buying metal because 401k's are basically a figment of our collective psychosis.
What a bunch of scumbaggery!
"Hitting pause" + "decades + retirement" doesn't fucking mesh.
What, are you gonna start retiring when you're eighty or dead?! This is like pretending puberty blockers have no long term effect.
These fucks need to meet the wall.
We had a nice thing going for a while, shame what we let them do to us.
I keep trying to tell my parents that retirement is a myth for my generation but they refuse to understand.

An elegant encapsulation of our entire financial system.
No, that's just 401k's.
An elegant encapsulation of our entire financial system is: "Protection racketeering ponzi scheme that supports Fabain Socialist imperial projects."
