The Texas State legislature wasn't able to pass a bill banning covid mask and vax mandates last session thanks to one RINO state senator named Kel Seliger. Seliger has since been replaced by a non RINO. They should be able to pass that mask and vax mandate ban this session.
Abbott claims his executive order banning vax/mask mandates is only active if the emergency declaration is renewed.
Abbott stated that “I intend to keep these executive orders and suspensions in place until the Legislature can enact laws this session to prohibit local governments from imposing restrictions like mask mandates and vaccine mandates,” Abbott’s declaration reads, adding that his renewal “in no way infringes on the rights or liberties of any law-abiding Texans.”
We will see if he ends the declaration when they pass the vax and mask mandate bans.
Thanks for the more in depth context!
No problem!
I definitely have some qualms about Greg Abbott but he atleast knows the easy way to look good is to copy DeSantis on major issues.
I hope that in Texas we can get bold and pragmatic Chip Roy elected as governor in 2026.
Abbot got 70% of the primary vote after making several unpopular decisions on covid and having most of the state lose power during freezing weather for half a week. He has no realistic Republican challengers.
I hope Abbott doesn't run again for a fourth term.
What do you think of Allen West?
Allen West is great on the issues.
He has some baggage that harms him though.
He will struggle in a 2026 governor primary as he apparently made many enemies inside the Texas GOP as the previous Texas Republican chair.
West started his career in the Florida GOP and then moved to Texas.
Some people attack him for carpetbagging and some squishy suburban Rs hold an incident from his military record against him.
Chip Roy is likely the best aggressive governor option we have.
Another viable option is Beth Van Duyne. Although she is not as based as Chip Roy, she is more electable.
If 2026 is a red or neutral wave year, Chip Roy is the best option.
If 2026 will be a blue wave year, it would be safer to run Van Duyne.
Texas has been trending blue more and more since 2012 so it is important to take any future race very seriously.
We cannot afford to nominate bad candidates who are RINOs and we cannot afford to nominate candidates who are not electable.
It is imperative we nominate candidates who can keep Texas red long term.
Thanks. I appreciate your knowledge about local politics. Since we live in same area it’s very local
