Except, it wasn't a contract, it was a terms sheet. They may have low-balled Crowder but this isn't uncommon in contract negotiations with large dollar signs attached.
The testimony of everyone who works at Daily Wire seems to be that Boering makes a hard bargain but that they ultimately get what they're want contractually and are very happy with how they're treated. People who are unaccustomed to contract negotiations and big business are reading into it all sorts of bad intentions that may make sense to the layperson but are standard business procedure.
People are free not to like how big business operates -- I don't either -- but acting like this was a conspiracy to silence and control Crowder or other small creators is ridiculous. Andrew Torba doesn't know what he's talking about.
Oh, fuck off with that bullshit. This was a contract offer in everything but name. If Crowder had said "Yes", they wouldn't have turned around and told him "No, no, no! You're our friend! We wouldn't make you sign something like this!" They'd have copied it all verbatim in contract form and been proud of it. And the deal was insultingly bad. From a youtube comment:
To put the pay in perspective. Imagine you wanted to hire your "friend" to work for you and you know his services are worth $20 an hour but you offer him $10 an hour. And you forbid him from getting a second job in the field he's most experienced in. And he has to pay for all the tools and supplies he needs to do the job for you out of the $10/hr. And he can't set up a go fund me to help with his expenses. And he can't sell shirts with his face or name on it. And he's locked into this deal for 4 years. Personally I wouldn't offer a deal like that to my worst enemy let alone my friend
The above is a pretty good summary of the situation, but even that is being more generous than what this DW "offer" actually said. He would have had to also mention that if the contractor refused to turn around and shout support for a sponsorship he didn't choose himself, then he would get no pay for the entire day. Or if someone else decided to come along and choose to throw explosives (basically being demonetized or banned for arbitrary reasons) on everything the contractor built throughout the 4 year contract (that could be extended to 6 years against his will at the sole behest of DW), the contractor would be the one held liable for the damage incurred by the vandal for nearly the entirety of the amount promised to him over his entire contract, without regard for any profit that came from his work.
The DW is entirely in the wrong here. This is not something that anyone even remotely making any offers in good faith would even think to suggest. They also even dare to claim that writing down such utter contemptible trash was "Just standard business practices", and then turn around and say that Crowder made a treacherous, personal attack against them for openly calling out the business practices, while not mentioning them by name. Boering and the rest of the DW crew that were sicced on Crowder deserve all the criticism that they get.
Oh, fuck off with that bullshit. This was a contract offer in everything but name.
Except it wasn’t, it was a terms sheet. A real contract would have to be written up before anything could be signed and legally binding.
You can ask anyone who has been in large multi-million contract negotiations before and they will explain that negotiations begins with a terms sheet, usually at one extreme or another, and end up somewhere in the middle. I’m not saying this is right or wrong, only that it’s normal at this level of business.
If Crowder had said "Yes", they wouldn't have turned around and told him "No, no, no! You're our friend! We wouldn't make you sign something like this!" They'd have copied it all verbatim in contract form and been proud of it. And the deal was insultingly bad. From a youtube comment:
Nobody in their right mind would accept a contract without reading it, so that was never a possibility.
Brett Cooper signed a contract with DW while she was still an unknown, and when her content exploded and became very successful, they came to her and volunteered to renegotiate her contract, something that only worked in her favor and they had no obligation to do.
It makes no financial sense for DW to abuse their creators, and there’s zero evidence they’ve ever exploited or tricked their employees. Crowder on the other hand…
Beyond his underhandedness in this situation, Crowder has used contract law (NDA) to silence NotGayJared and allegedly got him fired from another job after he left Crowder. He did something to Sven Computer (allegedly refusing to pay him due wages) who remains silent most likely due to threat of NDA. He threatened to sue a fan Twitter account for Hopper the dog when they wouldn’t turn it over to him. People who have worked with him say he’s high strung, demanding, takes everything personally, holds grudges and is overall not a good person to work for. Owen Benjamin has been calling Crowder out for years for his mistreatment of employees.
I don’t care if you hate the Daily Wire or not, Crowder is clearly in the wrong here and is airing his dirty laundry to his own benefit. He’s not the hero people think he is.
EDIT: It totally skipped my mind, but Owen Benjamin actually said Crowder silenced him from talking about how all the trans kids hormones came from a single large company in Israel.
You can love or hate Owen Benjamin, think he’s crazy or whatever, but just understand that there is a track record of accusations against Crowder for the same things Daily Wire is being accused of.
Boering outright said he expected to ultimately end up paying double. You're a piece of utter dogshit if you lowball someone by 50%. The ONLY reason to do that is because you hate the person's guts and you want them to not even waste time with a counter-offer, or you are banking on them feeling like such an asshole asking for 250% (in order to 'meet in the middle') that they'll lowball themselves and you end up making bank.
Boering is a piece of shit for doing that and I'm fucking thrilled his garbage company is being trashed. He deserves it. The fact that they didn't even fire Candace Owens for her behavior on Timcast means that this is who they really are.
Crowder has used contract law (NDA) to silence NotGayJared and allegedly got him fired from another job after he left Crowder
lmao oh fuck off. There's SO MANY fucking stores about NotGayJared that it's obvious they're all 100% fucking made-up nonsense. This is the new, latest story? What about the one where his mother was dying and Crowder refused to let him see her? Or the story about how he wasn't allowed to even see his kid when he was born? Or the story about how Crowder stole all his money? Give it a fucking break.

That's fine if that's your interpretation, but you're not exactly a trustworthy source on big contract negotiations, and you're not someone personally close to Crowder or Boering, so you're just reading into your own personal feelings on the matter. Personal feelings, I might add, that contradict the statements of many people around Boering.
I'm curious though, why is everyone here talking about how insulting the low dollar amount was as if that was the core issue, when Crowder himself said it wasn't about the money?

I've only ever heard one story, and that was that NotGayJared quit LWC on his own (which Jared confirmed himself) and that he wasn't allowed to talk about it (which everyone agrees is most likely due to an NDA).
Again, we don't know what really happened but this is just one part of a pattern of behavior.
Sven Computer disappeared overnight and nobody was allowed to talk about it to this day (once again implying an NDA).
Owen Benjamin has been calling out Crowder's mistreatment of employees for years and also claims he himself was censored by Crowder when he wanted to talk about Israel's involvement in the trans movement.
Lauren Chen who collaborated with Crowder confirmed he is high strung, difficult to work with and takes business matters personally.
None of this is surprising to me as I've observed him over the years and none of it is to condemn Crowder as a bad person -- everyone has flaws -- but I also don't automatically jump to his defense when things like this happen.
If none of this matters to you, fine, but don't expect everyone to be as convinced of Crowder's integrity as you are.
What would have happened if he signed the 'terms sheet'?
The testimony of everyone who works at Daily Wire seems to be that Boering makes a hard bargain but that they ultimately get what they're want contractually and are very happy with how they're treated
Is that why Crowder counter-offered them, and they then slammed the door in his face and said "nope we're done, don't even bother talking to us again"?
They didn't even attempt a second offer. Their ONLY offer that they accepted was the dogshit rookie garbage they put in front of him.
What would have happened if he signed the 'terms sheet'?
As far as I know, based on what I've heard, absolutely nothing. It's not legally binding.
Is that why Crowder counter-offered them, and they then slammed the door in his face and said "nope we're done, don't even bother talking to us again"?
They didn't even attempt a second offer. Their ONLY offer that they accepted was the dogshit rookie garbage they put in front of him.
From Boering's perspective, Crowder rejected the offer, acted insulted, and demanded they send him a completely new terms sheet with a significantly larger dollar figure (despite him saying it has nothing to do with money, if you really believe that) without red-lining the previous terms or even just talking to Boering about it reasonably. Instead he told Boering, the CEO of a much larger and more successful company, that DW's business model was garbage. It's at this point that DW threw up his hands and they parted ways.
By the way, you can listen to Boering's perspective at timestamp 44:10 of Boering's response video.
You can choose to trust Crowder or you can choose to trust Boering, but either way we don't really know what really went down between the two of them. What we do know are the actions both have taken publicly and what those associated with Crowder and Daily Wire are saying, and all the evidence in this case points to Crowder being in the wrong here, if for no other reason than airing his dirty laundry and breaking the trust of people he supposedly was friends with. This is true EVEN IF Boering's actions were insulting and underhanded. Crowder handled it poorly either way.
I keep telling people, Crowder is not the bastion of integrity people think he is.
