I haven't seen enough of Shapiro to make a judgement about him, but I figured he can't be all bad considering how much the MSM hates him. But if it took him this long to realize what anyone outside the left's propaganda bubble knew from the beginning that doesn't reflect well on him.
His role is the face of the "right wing bogey man", same as Tucker (and Walsh, for that matter). They say things that were center-left ten years ago and the rest of the media points at them and shouts "alt-right extremist".
He's controlled opposition. He'll never actually rock the boat, just act as a drag on the leftward drift. Even then, he only does it to get everyone who opposes it in one place so they can be discredited as a group.
