Here's the rub the student was a Muslim, so the fairly known statement takes on a racist connotation to some. And yes I'm aware Muslim isn't a race but that's the quickest label to be slung.

Yeah, I saw that. It seemed like a non sequitur, which is why I suspect things are being withheld.

Even if he did mean it in an anti-Muslim way, at worst he should be cautioned. This multiyear witch-hunt is absurd.

The question becomes did the teacher say it because the kid was Muslim or would he have said it to anyone? I think additional context is the use of terrorists by Garland to describe more conservative school board members and parents objecting to certain agendas being taught in schools.

People joke about this stuff. I've had a very left-wing acquaintance at university (who is otherwise alright) make a joke about me being a terrorist, specifically because of my ethnicity. I can't imagine making a big deal out of it .
