I just finished "Lone Survivor" for the second time and there was something that struck me as more painful the second time around. The villagers who helped our soldier escape got doubly screwed with Biden's disastrous withdrawal. Many of these brave people sacrificed themselves and risked their families to help Americans and Biden screwed them.

"To be an enemy of the US is dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal." - Henry Kissinger
This quote sounds like bullshit, so I tracked it down. A simple google search reveals 100% tankie, anti-american bullshitters spouting this quote as the gospel truth with no source ever provided. So I tracked down the source, which, as I expected, proved that the quote is false and made up, a perversion of a real quote with a completely different meaning:
So it was Kissinger making a speculative argument that Johnson's Defense Secretary would try to "depose Thieu before Nixon is inaugurated" in January 1969, and that IF this happened, it would send the wrong message to America's allies.
And, of course, we know it did not happen, and Kissinger's speculation was wrong. The US did not act to depose Thieu. The tankie quote is a deliberate lie.
The Germans freezing to death is their own damn fault. They chose to shut down their nuclear power plants. They chose to be dependent on a hostile foreign source.
The US certainly hasn't helped them at all, but they put themselves in the position they're in. Not the US. In fact, when Trump (y'know, the guy who probably represented the American people best in the last 30 years at least) tried to warn them that they were in a precarious position, they (and the rest of the world) just laughed at him.

This is an opinion.
I would say the US gets 5 star reviews all around except for Biden backstabbing Afghanistan, though the Afghans had tons of notice of that coming since Biden made no secret of the fact that he would do it more than 2 years before he dropped the hammer: "Biden promised to “end the forever wars in Afghanistan and the Middle East” and terminate U.S. involvement in the Yemen civil war."
Taiwan & South Korea & Israel & Iraq owe their existence to the US. Japan absolutely loves us. Every single prime minister in the EU personally got on their knees to suck Obama's black dick, especially the men.
You can't just point to 2 countries - South Vietnam in 1973, and Afghanistan in 2021 - and lie to claim that being a US ally/friend is somehow fatal.
Meanwhile look at what has happened to US enemies:
took out Manuel Noriega in Panama
took out Saddam Hussein in Iraq
took out various Cartel leaders, from Escobar and on
took out the Taliban, sat on them for 20 years, killed most of them
took out OBL
took out ISIS
took out Milosevic & Gaddafi, though in both cases those were really just acting as muscle for the Euros
Color revolutions, including the Rose revolution in Georgia
Euromaidan's overthrow of a Russian puppet in Ukraine
Russia getting its ass kicked in Ukraine right now
Iran currently gripped by revolts
IDK man certainly seems like the friends of the United States are doing a LOT better than the enemies of the US over the last 30 years.
You want to talk about the really funny one? As of the last questionnaire done on the topic, Vietnam has the highest opinion of any nation in the world (with a 84% positive view. They also loved Trump, go figure). Higher than Israel (81%), The Philippines (78%), S. Korea (75%), and Poland (73%).
That said, I would not be against reorienting our foreign policy based on these stats. Cut Germany lose in favor of the East/Central Europeans (Pretty much every single nation in that area except Belarus and Russia like us), move toward Asia (most Asian nations have a positive view of us), and then find the handful of African nations that like us (Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Tanzania) and double down on them. Everyone else can suck fat 'nards. Unless they are on the Americas. Then Monroe demands we work toward our interest.
