In my "weed-out" course, the prof once said "all but 5 of you failed." to a month-end test and then let the class murmur.
I asked outright "so who are the other four with me, then?"
I got seven hands up. Some of us were wrong, but seriously, everyone else just went "oh yeah, we suck, we failed.", there wasn't any whinging or complaining, just a "okay, that's one test failed, gotta do better."
It isn't fair to students who studied and passed the test either. They should be defending him.
They probably are scared to do so
