English is a weird language and us Americans made it much much weirder
In all realistic fairness, English is the overwhelmingly most diverse language in human history. If other languages were forced to compete then they would be just as bastardized
Also pretty weird are a lot of American-based phrases. Was watching some random show on it and I realized just how many weird ones we have, and how incredibly obscure their meaning can be unless you're already used to hearing and using them.
I'm sure there's phrases from other languages/cultures that would be just as confusing to me too, but it was kind of an amusing eye opener nonetheless.
According to her aunt it’s African, the media sources say Hindu origin from the word and her aunt as the other source but no secondary source for it being an actual “African” name.

I had a friend from Africa -i forget where- that complained about this. So many people have named themselves after monsters or random animals.
A lot of them also take Islamic and Arabic names. To show their appreciation for the religion that did not bother to let black men keep their cocks.
