I'm currently going through Ray Bradbury Theater on Peacock (yea they got a lot of modern woke garbage but they do have a good library of older shows, and I get access to WWE Network) and I came across the Mars is Heaven adaptation. That is such a good short story and it was actually the very first Ray Bradbury story I ever read. It was in one of the first golden age Sci-Fi anthologies. Sci-Fi from that era is amazing. Now I want to get the Weird Science reprint with it. Anytime I see Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror, Weird Science, etc reprints I buy them up fast.

Some of the Sci-Fi of 60 years ago was great. There was optimism and excitement about what the future could be. (((Somehow))) the huge prosperity brought to us by technology hasn't improved the standard of living nearly as much as the new wealth created would suggest. I can reread some of my favorites and still get the pleasure I had from them as a kid.
Same here. Plus I’ve always been interested in space/the universe and life out there. So it’s so much fun to read stories about exploring the solar system and beyond. They had excitement
Can you people make a comment without mentioning Jews?
Can you make a comment without mentioning women?
I don't know, can you make a comment from your real account and ask again?
Can you go one comment without mentioning women? Or am I this dudes sock puppet too?
Yeah, sure. It'll be this one.
Of course I can go a comment without mentioning them. How do you know that user is a man though, it could be a woman...
Fuck, I failed.
Try E.E "Doc" Smith Lensman series.
Thanks!
I love Tales from the Darkside!
Sweet. I need to download all those 80s anthology shows
Never read it, but I saw that episode too.
It’s a short read. As a kid the story threw me for a loop with the ending
Have you read the Rama series by Clarke? I only ever read the first book but loved it, got the other three on their way to me now so I can finish the series. There’s a sci fi YouTuber called “Quinn’s Ideas” who has quite a few videos recommending various sci fi novels.
Just fair warning, the subsequent books are pretty different and clearly Gentry Lee was doing the heavy lifting on the actual writing. Unlike the first book, they have actual characters, but the style is pretty different for this reason and the pace is a lot slower
Same as you. I read Rama a while back but I’d have to read it again. I do like Clarke though. I’ve also read the 2001 books. I subscribe to Quinn’s Ideas. He is good overall but he seemed to like the Foundation tv show.
