It's hard to build such a device. The plant would be huge. Where the heck would they put it? The rainforest!? Rocky mountains!? The Wet Side of the Pacific Northwest!?
CO2 is not dirty carbon, it's a harmless trace gas. I should put that on a T-shirt.
It is a gas necessary for life on earth.

Because oxygen likes to bind to anything, so finding co2 on another planet isn't surprising.
