A harsh dose of reality is a sure-fire cure for the victim mentality. This would require something significant to happen to them like WW3, military conscription, BUDS/boot camp, a life or death survival scenario, or something of that sort. Harsh reality has a way of creating clarity. Unfortunately modern people are so privileged that they never experience anything so difficult in their lives.
