If you want to know why Nintendo is releasing the Switch OLED with only minimal upgrades to the screen and hard drive, look no further than the economics of what it costs Nintendo to make.
According to Bloomberg, the $350 unit, $50 more than the current Switch, only has $10 worth of upgrades, it’s estimated.
They most definitely did adjust for inflation, they just didn’t tell you.
They also make that as an option, not a command. Nintendo is also looking into shrinking the package size for games. They are aware of inflation and adjusting.
"shrinking the package size for games"
I'm thinking this is not due to inflation, it is much cheaper to just get cases the same size as everyone else, economy of scale and all that.
I'd say it is due to the price of moving a single shipping container has gone up around 5x.
Edit: Also they don't put a manual in games anymore so just going down to the Vita/DS case size makes sense, or even smaller. Wouldn't be surprised if everyone starts pushing digital even more.
Meanwhile the switch hasn't gone down in price once. Adjusted for inflation it has.

I prefer physical. Heck, I just bought Cuphead and really wished I could find the physical edition for it.
