"shrinking the package size for games"
I'm thinking this is not due to inflation, it is much cheaper to just get cases the same size as everyone else, economy of scale and all that.
I'd say it is due to the price of moving a single shipping container has gone up around 5x.
Edit: Also they don't put a manual in games anymore so just going down to the Vita/DS case size makes sense, or even smaller. Wouldn't be surprised if everyone starts pushing digital even more.

I prefer physical. Heck, I just bought Cuphead and really wished I could find the physical edition for it.
