I don't do that because I see it as unethical, and because taking the money can still make the other people feel like you owe them something.
I've actually had 3 standards regarding self-ID that I don't think can be challenged:
If asked to racially or ethnically identify, or specify pronouns: refuse
If forced to racially or ethnically identify (and are unable to refuse): Identify as ethnically and racially "American"
If forced to identify pronouns (and are unable to refuse): identify as military rank.
One think the progressives are trying to do are actually trying to pull in veterans into the DIE racket. Even though we are obvious enemies to Marxism, it gives them legitimacy, because "Veteran" is a fairly unique social class, that is given legal legitimacy, and isn't based on immutable characteristics.
Using that, I intend to use my veteran status as a weapon against DIE classifications whenever necessary. Those pronouns are my pronouns. I can, and have, forced other people to use them. I can go back to doing that at work if the civilians really want me to. I can assert an American "heritage". I can even assert that I'm racially and ethnically American (using 4chan's Amerimutt logic, and some lessons from "Migrations & Cultures" by Thomas Sowell).
There is no real good answer to that without the DIE racketeers trying to re-classify me as a different category (like white). But at that point, I get to demand to know how they can re-classify me, since they aren't accepting of self-ID.
Unlike 'Attack Helicopter gender', this isn't a meme. I can completely argue my case, and I've never otherwise stated any race, ethnicity, or pronoun. It is a valid self-id.
I really like your position, it's certainly a solid position for veterans.
One of my thoughts is to identify as mixed race. As ethnically White Americans are a mix of European descent. And being "mixed" puts someone in a position to gain the benefits they would deny white Americans (university admissions, job interviews...). If they ask what mix of ethnic groups responding with "I am not helping you be racist against me." immediately puts them in an unwinnable position.
I've literally had an instance where a woman who was mixed race was told to "pick one."
Just to be clear how Leftist racialists view the world. They don't exactly see people as "mongrelized" like the old Progressive Racists did because they were genetic determinists. The modern Progressive Racialism is based on self-identification. They are demanding you choose a racial-political affiliation. This is also how black people can be "white supremacists". They are blacks with a "white false consciousness" who've "affiliated" or "allied" with "Whiteness".
They can't argue it's illegitimate to. You have promotion warrants and a fucking chevrons you can literally wear.
Military ranks are proper pronouns, and are used as official titles & pronouns, and you visually wear them. So if DIE wants to get stupid, you can make a 1:1 transition to rank structure no matter how egregious they want to make the pronoun issue. Then you can make them address you by your rank, and even come back with witty remarks when they get it wrong.
"Sir, I don't think you can use those pronouns."
"It's fucking Sergeant to you. And don't use "sir", I work for a living."

That's a good mechanism too.

Wow. I just went through the use of pronouns and Sarge works for all of them...
E5 Yep, E is.

I actually heard that joke recently in a star trek episode. Warf's adopted father told it when introducing himself.
The best joke will always be: "Eat any good books, lately?"
