There's too much retardedness in TLJ to ever make a concise post about it but the casino stuff was just braindead on so many levels.
Finn and Rose get arrested for a parking violation. Literally a plot taken from Spaceballs.
They don't actually find the person they were looking for. A lot of fans briefly hoped it was going to be Lando, nope, don't even see who it was meant to be they just get BDT instead who is such an expert hacker he can... hotwire doors with shiny coins.
Free the horse aliens! Don't free the children...
The horse aliens were likely very quickly caught after because of spaceship going after them.
Rose's Twitter tier rant about slaves and war profiteering. Both of which were quickly shot down by the aforementioned point 3 where slaves were shown to not really matter because they did fuck all for the slave children except given them a shiny ring with the symbol of the Rebellion that would most likely get said child beaten just for having contraband in the first place let alone something with the symbol of Galen on it, and then BDT pointing out the war profiteers were selling to both sides anyway!
Part of me wishes I walked out that movie, then again maybe lasting 'til the end was needed so I would never bother to go see TROS and other shit Disney takes in the MCU that followed.
It's one of those films I really have to avoid talking/posting about because it will always end up with me typing up a nerd rant about something that happened in the film and despite it being a massive fucking wall of text in the end it still won't be anywhere near a significant amount of the film content I've brought up. There's that much wrong with the entire film.
but the casino stuff was just braindead on so many levels.
IMO the casino stuff failed on a single level : it was utherless useless to the plot in all ways possible.
Remove the entire arc, and the plot to TLJ doesn't change at all. Heck, you can entirely remove Finn and the chinese girl from the movie, and the plot doesn't change at all.
Every other failure of the casino arc is rooted in this poor writing.

Yea I remember almost laughing because they cared more about the horse aliens. Such a ham fisted moment

I feel your pain my friend.
