The current situation at Rockstar, GTAO is their cash cow and they screwed up RDRO due to mismanagement despite a high amount of players thanks to the single player. They must be aware if they screw up the single player they risk having less players for online where the REAL money is made.
So it feels like a classic rumor story made for clicks, can't be verified by anyone but Rockstar which if they do, THAT becomes the story.

That's the thing, we don't think they are transphobic jokes, but some woke "ethics department" type at Rockstar or Take2 probably did and demanded it's removal.

It's more of a conflicting narrative that's happening right now. On the one hand we have the long march by the far left through all institutions.
On the other, the pendulum finally beginning to swing back with lots of companies either shutting up, firing or just being sold off after losing it all. It's really hard to tell how much Rockstar is infected by this as for all we know there could be a Latina character in GTA 6 but have a scene where she beats the crap out of a white hipster trying to say Lantinx instead of Latina.
