I live in California, in the US, and the Democrats here have been absolutely obsessed with trying to build high speed rail. It's stalled because of the astronomical projected costs, and even if it were completed, the tickets would not even be competitive with the already-cheap plane tickets between Los Angeles and San Francisco, despite the fact that the high speed rail would be much slower and less convenient.
The project has been widely described as troubled,[6][7] being far behind schedule and suffering from management turmoil, problems with procuring land, and engineering issues;[8][9] in 2019, Governor Newsom announced there was no path to complete the route L.A.-S.F.[10] In addition, the cost of the project has risen from an estimate of $33 billion in 2008 to $93.5 billion by 2022.[8] According to a poll in April 2022, 56 percent of California voters supported continuing the project, while 35 percent opposed continuing it.
My girlfriend wants to move to Florida. We will probably move to Florida or Texas in the next 2 years. This is a growing trend where conservatives are abandoning blue states in droves and moving to red states.
I was stationed in Coronado, California is a shithole, period. Everything you just listed is completely unejoyable. The weather is stagnant, car pile ups occur anytime it rains, the food is entirely mediocre to anyone who has traveled. The people are horrendous to the point you can expect filth and shit everywhere. Alcoholism and drug abuse is the closest thing to a personality out there. Well that and most women being pregnant by the time they turn 18. It’s a man made shit hole.
My brother is a project manager for Parsons Engineering. He was in charge of the recent I-15/91 interchange rebuild, for one. Send hate mail to.... :)
His company has been involved in the high speed rail from the start. He told me that lots of rich liberals in CA had property along the proposed route for the track, and said hightey tightey virtue signalling liberals were charging astronomical amounts of money to sell the easements or property for the rail line, or were fighting it in court.
So, think of every NIMBY east coast progressive that wants windmills everywhere but where they live, and you get the support of high speed rail in CA. Very big on big, expensive ideas, abominal on execution.

My condolences
California has some of the best geography, climate, and food/amenities in the world.
The down side is that it's run by libtards that tax everything that moves.
Yep. I've been there, and I loved the weather. It's such a tragedy what happened to that state.
