The US has been in the middle east primarily to benefit Israel for 70+ years now.
In the last 40+ years, after Iran's revolution, the US started to work against Iran. Once Iran started to fuck with other countries like SA, now there is a natural anti-Iran alliance forming that actually involves Israel. This is why Trump was able to get some muslim countries to make peace with Israel.
All of this just fell into Biden's lap and he isn't doing anything with it.
The US has been in the Middle East for entirely one purpose. The Suez Canal. It’s the reason we send billions of dollars a year to Egypt. It’s the reason we have been militarily stockpiling Israel. The Suez Canal is the most important trade route in the world, and has been our highest priority target for decades. Why do you think Somali pirates were even a blip on the radar compared the all the hijackings worldwide especially in se Asia. No, Somalis we’re and are a thing entirely because of the Suez Canal, that’s why we have a military base in Djibouti.
Well, the Suez Canal first, oil second.
Hard to claim this is true when the US had the chance to side with the UK, France, and Israel to take the canal, but instead betrayed them to side with Egypt and the USSR. Clearly US policy at the time was NOT focused on the Canal, it was focused single-mindedly on decolonialization.
I don't agree. We pay Egypt to play nice with Israel. We pay Israel because the jews in the US lobby us to do so and it's an easy pander for Congress to the jew vote.
because of media attention, as always.
There really aren't that many.
That's just stupid. The US has been in the middle east primarily to benefit itself, not Israel. Israel secures votes at home, and is a useful weapon to weild against uncooperative Arab states.
70 years ago would be 1952. The US was not even supporting Israel back then.
The US basically guaranteed Israel from the beginning, but in terms of the modern "all in for Israel" policy, that wasn't until the early 1960s, so you can change my decades to 60 instead of 70 years if you count it from then. In the 50s Germany and France were giving Israel a lot of stuff, so the US wasn't as necessary.
But yeah in the 50s the US was stupidly hell bent on de-colonialism and that led the the idiotic decision to side with the USSR and Egypt in the Suez Crisis.
shhuuuusshhh do not destroy the national socialist narrative!
