I agree with Jon Harper's take. Asshole leftists here in the US imagine Ukraine as a bigger version of California, a liberal suburb being overrun by Trump voters.
Never mind the reality of the Azov Battalion or the history of Russian-Ukrainian relations.
Every damn thing must conform to their cramped little outlook. Michael Malice is absolutely right about NPC Americans--every nation in the world is judged according to the privileged leftist American orientation. Their globalist utopia looks like Palo Alto.
Brigade (3 battalions and other subunits).
One reinforced (with a heavy weapons company and an airflift of volunteers by helicopters into the siege) battalion was lost in Mariupol, but I think they recreate it now if they didn't already.
English Wikipedia is always ever one step back. When it was a regiment since late 2014 to earlier this year they called it a battalion, now that is a brigade they call it a regiment.
They also still call the Islamic State ISIS and "ISIL", with 8 years of, well, retardation.
Well, that's useful information, thanks. What's your take on the whole Azov/Ukrainian "Nazi" angle? Ukrainian culture in general is not exactly welcoming to foreign influence or wokeism, which is why I find the lockstep, knee-jerk cheerleading for Ukraine sort of puzzling.
They have "street" following (hooligan clubs) and friends in high places, but didn't have popular support (with 0 deputies in the parliament between their 2 rival circles, Banderovite Right Sector and "Social National" Azov movement). Buy may have now, especially Azov as the "300" of Mariupol (ironically with the DNR unit Sparta among their enemies). RS once tried a very half assed coup of sorts. Azov guys run a NSBM restival but their music videos from Mariupol were set to a neofolkish synth of sort, and now they have a more socially acceptable logo too.
Ukraine's ruling class is a kleptocracy for the benefit of the Global American Empire. Ideologically, the empire is opposed to nationalist movements like Azov. However, the geopolitical reality is that they need a fighting force to hedge against Russian interests. They can't spin up a fighting force that actually encompasses their liberal, rootless, cosmopolitan values because no one is actually willing to die for that bullshit so you get this peculiar arrangement of leveraging Blood & Soil nationalism as a motivating force to defend what is, in effect, an outpost for a virulently anti-nationalist global hegemony.
That makes sense. Zelensky is clearly a stooge for American interests. The unwillingness of the US to broker a peace agreement gives the game away.
Thanks mainly to the opinions of Konstantin Kissin, I was almost convinced the Russians shouldn't have gone to war, but the Russians have legitimate interests they're defending and the US is pretending Putin is attempting to expand his sphere of influence when this is, historically speaking, the continuation of a long-standing territorial dispute, and Putin's concern over NATO moving east is certainly justified. It's not like my own leaders haven't gone to war under false pretenses for dubious reasons. (Vietnam, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iran, Iraq--am I missing any?) So this high-minded, pious anti-Russian rhetoric coming from the Biden regime and his press lapdogs and their NPC drones flying the Ukrainian flag is absolute horseshit.
What makes me even more certain that this opinion is correct is the degree of anti-Russian sentiment deliberately created by corporate media since Trump's election (and before that for all I know). Why else would there be a coordinated effort to paint Putin as this evil mastermind bent on conquering Europe?
The media and their masters are playing a very dangerous game with a nuclear superpower. Where the fuck do they get their arrogance? Assurances from the State Department, probably.
Also a more classic recent Azov music video, to some (power) metal song about Odin and such: https://twitter.com/ng_ukraine/status/1517909036649304064 (Right Sector are into Christianity instead)
Holy shit! Twitterites really dig Ukrainian Nazis!
What the fuck is Allen even trying to say?
