I can see it from the 'safe, legal, and rare' position..
But you can only have the 'rare' part if you're upholding the societal shaming of sex outside marriage. Libs stopped doing that in the 1960's, and by the 2000's, virtually nobody was doing it.
The response to a surprise pregnancy used be 'We have get married now, for the child, and so that we don't look like degenerates.'
The cases in which that didn't happen were typically when a rich girl got knocked up by some working class prole - but even then, it was still often deemed preferable to nepotistically hire him into the family business or something, than have her be a single mother viewed as damaged goods by every wealthy suitor who came along.
That's how rich girls end up married to the groundskeeper of daddy's mansion.
