Putin literally tells them the truth and they hate him for it.
The funny part is that he is actually helping them with a correct analysis of what they are doing wrong and where it is going. I think it is basically a definition of insanity to be unable to hear good advice when you are getting it.
I don't know, it's pretty common with humans being tribal and all. If we hate someone we assume the worst and ignore anything they actually say. If we love someone we always give them the benefit of the doubt and rationalize what they say into something we agree with.
True, it is a common human failing to polarize before applying critical thinking.
