Illegal, no. But doctors have ethical considerations (do no harm and all that) and if the board thinks a doctor has breached those ethics, they can revoke their license.
It takes a lot to have that happen. I mean, you've seen some of the plastic surgery nightmares that exist I'm sure. None of the surgeons who do that get their license revoked. Doctors who openly give substandard care to white people in the name of equity don't get their license revoked. Doctors who mutilate underage children because their pee pee makes them feel sad don't get their license revoked.
You basically have to stumble into the operating room piss drunk, yell "I AM DEATH ITSELF", and shoot the patient in the head with a shotgun for the board to give a fuck.
Or be a politically active conservative. That'll do it too.
Prescribe Ivermectin in some states.
Think about that. You can get destroyed by a medical board for prescribing one of the safest medications in history, with tons of data backing you up, but you’re perfectly fine chopping off a kid’s dick because groomers on an online forum convinced him he’s a girl.
I get that you're talking about how things are and not how they should be but hopefully Florida is improving the situation. Proscribing hormone pills for troomer purposes or performing mutilation surgery should result in permanent medical license revocation and prison time. You don't tell a schizophrenic who thinks the CIA is putting mind control devices in his cereal that his delusions are true because his lived experience is valid. Similarly you don't tell the autogynephile that he's really a woman because his lived experience is valid. That goes double in the latter case because the autogynephile only wants you to tell him that because it makes his pee pee tingle. You treat the source of the delusion or at the very least keep the lunatic from harming the public.
