Very nice, but this was only one of the instances. It was also the avowed goal of the Ukrainian leaders.
"Our children will go to school and nursery school, and theirs will sit in basement!"
I could make the fatuous point that "if Putin had said this", but we both know that the corrupt tyrants in the West only pretend to care about their "human rights" when it is to their political benefit.
Which brings us back to the only thing that counts. Friend-enemy. Russia bombing Mariupol very bad. Ukraine bombing Donetsk very good.
Maybe compare how Donetsk (on any date, beyond the airport zone obliterated by both sides and the villages just to the west of it that the Russians destroyed) and Mariupol (now) look like. Aerial and sat photos, skylines, things like that. Or Mariupol on February 23 to the one just 3 months later (Donetsk airport went for 9 months and then it was for 7 years in these villages). Do it before making more dumbfuck attempts to equalize things.
Can we remain on good terms even while disagreeing?
As for equating, I'm not. Obviously, Russia has tons more firepower than the Kiev regime, and the situation is completely different as Ukraine never had any hope of retaking Donetsk. If there were an active offensive, and the DNR decided to use the city as a human shield like Azov did Mariupol (which I do expect), then I expect the city to be reduced to rubble to thunderous applause from the same people who professionally bemoan the fate of Mariupol.
So I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of the West, who condemn the shelling of civilians and the use of cluster munitions only when it's their enemy doing and almost never their friend.
It's all about friends vs. enemies, nothing more.
Ukraine was on the brink of retaking Donetsk in August 2014 (advancing from all directions except the airport where they were holding waiting for the final push, even the link with Luhansk was severed) when the totally-not-Russian armored forces poured in across the border and destroyed a bunch of mostly police units at Ilovaisk, and the ceasefire began after the shock of this. Go see the maps between April and September.
Why do you say "Russia" and not "Moscow regime"?
The fuck you talk, "use the city as a human shield"? To defend it? Even Mariupol was defended in 2014, just the defense was broken in 1 day because the Russian city commandant "Chechen" (not really a Chechen, just a veteran of Chechnya) left them without command and they all broke and run/hid/surrendered (defeated by Azov who came armed with only rifles, grenades and machineguns with no military backup, there was no need for "firepower", just a daring raid in few dump trucks straight to the enemy HQ). Is the tardadion kicking in again? Get a fucking grip.
It wasn't "shelling of civilians" even according to the official Russian narrative, but feel free to continue sperging it in the years ahead (it was months ago, a single incident) for your beating-negros whatabboutry.
How sad that the rebels lost Slaviansk and Severeodonetsk, which are only now being won back at great cost to the civilian population.
Russia is less contemptible than Ukraine, because it has not prostituted itself to the world's bully, Anyway, everyone hates Russia, but Ukraine is somehow sacred despite its many Nazi memorials, the Azov Batallion and its war crimes.
In an open field, the Ukrainian army would lose in about 2 seconds. Which is why they hole up in apartment buildings and supermarkets, and then cry about 'evil Russia' when they are struck.
Every week or so, pro-Russian sources post images which they say is the result of shelling of Donetsk. So what is your claim here precisely? That Ukraine does nothing wrong, and that it does not target civilians, despite Poroshenko's own bragging about how the children of Donbas have to sit in the basement?
And even American propaganda sites have admitted that their client uses cluster munitions on Donetsk... even 8 years ago. Not 'months' ago.
Why is it 'whataboutism' to bring up anything bad that the Americans and their clients do? Am I justifying the bad things Russia did? No. Just saying that the Americans have absolutely no standing here, and neither do their clients.
