The good thing about hereditary monarchy is that while the ruler may be incompetent, it will not be always the most unscrupulous and ruthless person who gets to the top.
Of course, when he is incompetent, he may be deposed even when decent, like Henry VI.
I really hope that this present system is not the least bad system we will be able to think up.

I have slowly become a monarchist as the west continues to atrophy. None of the modern political systems appear to be capable of producing leaders.
Don't expect monarchy to be better though, except at producing leaders who are less morally corrupt.
At this point I will settle for systems that produce leaders that don't hate their own people.
Politicians should be illegal.
