Perhaps, but for all their complaints about the dumb hick southerner "Speak American, it's the only language I understand" type, they certainly spend an inordinate amount of time making sure everyone in foreign countries speak American issues and American sensibilities (or Cali ones, at the least).
They don't see it as American issues, they see them as Universal issues. This is the Rousseauian & Leftist concept of a Universal Man that accepts their most recent assertion of a meta-narrative.
This is why it's not really American cultural imperialism. It's not American culture, it's not even pushed by people who see themselves as Americans. They see themselves as "Global Citizens", aka: Socialists espousing Globalism (as a cultural institution) promoting the concept of a Universal Man with universal issues.

These are not American sensibilities, they aren't even American issues. These are Universal issues and America just happens to be a topical setting. This is why Barbados has had Black Lives Matter protests.
