i havent kept up with modern anime has it gotten so bad? Japan has an advantage of reputation and are usually more creative and better writers, but if they throw that advantage away , donghua may take over and force them in to competition.
Also interestingly enough Kdramas (korean dramas) apparently has gotten bad recently too from what i heard from people who watch it (like apparently now its women always being breadwinner and men always being dumb in modern Kdramas. )
funnily enough , 2010 actually was around the time i stopped consistently keeping up with anime. Maybe it really was for the reasons you listed and that they stopped having deep and interesting original stories as they used to .
Latest news is that Japan is starting to self censor for westoid "audiences". They are doing it in the games, and won't be long that they do it in other media. I feel a lot of this has to do with them chasing piracy across the west, which in turn puts them square in the 'western sentiments' sphere.
Yeah, I got into Kdrama's late. There are some decent one's, like Taxi Driver, and Devil Judge from last year. Had to literally sift through 15 years of Kdrama's to find just a handful that were watchable, but only the above two do I remember.
The chinese drama's are better in that sense. Production values are insane. Joy of Life is a pretty good one. If you prefer serious Nirvana on Fire is really good. Women are better looking than that hack Lucy Liu that fucked up Elementary.
Notice how it is the rise of feminism that is killing Kdramas. Parallels the trash media situation here. Since the Chinese will re-educate for wanton activism, its relatively safe from woke. No blatant alphabet soup either though they dance around it, much like real life ought to be. Deviancy on the edges, not in the mainstream.

Keep in mind that actresses in China do way too much plastic surgery and make up so it isnt really their natural look .
And well there was some wokeness in Genshin impact(chinese game) mostly in regards to inazuma basically the country representing Japan and the plot being basically that inazuma doesnt like to change and doesnt accept outsiders easily and this is somehow a "bad" thing .
One of the earliest memory of pre-gamergate gender-swap incident that got me to tune out. I watched season one of Elementary when it premiered because I like Jonny Lee Miller but not only did they gender swap Watson they apparently made Moriarty a female and Sherlock's lover or something. Never made it thru the season.
Also, Lucy Liu looks straight out of the movie Ants.
All celebs are faking it with plastic surgery, fake up etc. After all that, the end product in Hollywood just insults your intelligence with their mastermind azz kick this-is-the-ways.
Too bad about Genshin Impact, but I suppose any game that needs MMO scale is going to try to pander.
