As a side job I help my friend and his wife's business (they have a store that sells vintage toys and comic books) at small conventions in the area. We were selling some Spider-Man action figures and this little hispanic girl came up and played with spider-man for a while before her mom bought it for her. I guess I'm confused because I thought that she shouldn't be playing with Spider-man since he doesn't "represent her". Maybe the shill websites have been wrong about everything!!!!

The nerd hobbies were never in favor of excluding people who were genuinely interested in the hobby. The only wanted to gatekeep the busy bodies who shit the place up and tell original inhabitants how to behave (while not living up to their own standards of course). Their current state is a testament to their failure to gate keep those types.
Absolutely. Every time I hear "we need more --------- in the hobby" I'm like you already have them in the hobby!!! But I guess the fact that certain nerd hobbies have a large number of white males that is enough for them to have a fit.
They mean “more radical leftism”.
There has been women in nerd hobbies for ages, far longer than the feminists were pushing for it, they don't care about representation. All they and we all care about is good characters, stories, engaging content. I dont want people in my hobby who want to dumb it down.
I draw on occasion, my art is nothing to write home about but I am not going about making other people lower their standards to make my enjoyment better, wouldn't even get any better as there is nothing engaging in it any more.
