They rolled out the propaganda way too hard. They went from "oh no, war" to "the russians are using secret nazi symbols to communicate that they want to literally destroy the entire world by nuking chernobyl". It got too fucking crazy too fast even for normies.
Some amount of media hysteria is expected, but they need to learn how to keep some of the more exciting stuff for later acts. You can't just dump all your exposition immediately and expect people to keep tuning in after the story grinds to a halt.

WMDs - Russians from the government (moving missiles, flying bombers, and other theatrics) to the complete randoms on the internet just can't stop blackmailing the world with nuclear weapons all the time.
