As much as they are right in calling it morally bankrupt, they are likely the kind of person to turn around and unironically say that there is an issue with the entire genre of anime than give it a chance. In truth, it is better gatekeeping anime as a whole, like many things. Gatekeeping creates quality. Or very stubborn generational defects depending on the L.o.I. (Level of Incest) but mostly quality. More often quality than defects I'd even go as far as calling it, practically speaking, an objective good. What is the worst that can happen with these defects anyway, a fandom split that will protect newer, better virtues? Yeah, keep gatekeeping everyone.
