This is like the fifth thing today I've seen the leftists bitch about that I just think "who cares?"
I prefer games to just give me a character they designed for me anyway. Let me play some fictional character's story and not a bunch of pretend make believe that I'm actually in this game.
What world do you live in? “Avatar-based” gaming is presently our best escape from the woke. Every new fixed protagonist is an empowered female or minority.
It goes all the way back to books and even way before that. There's not a section in the front of the book where I fill in that the MC is a fat pink haired "man" with piercings and a vagina. You get whatever characters were written for you and can form your own connections or opinions on them.
It's not that I'm going to go in a rage that they shouldn't be allowed to make these create-a-character game, but if we are talking single player story RPGs, I've gotten to the point where it dampens my interest in them. Mainly, because just my experience they don't offer me the same type of story, because in a lot of ways they can't because they left a lot up to the player.
you're big titty rich adventure chick in tight shorts
This is the part that is a head scratcher for me. Lara Croft was James Bond/Indiana Jones - it was such an awesome character design. She's rich, she has a thirst for adventure, she likes collecting shinies and a lot of it harkens back to her childhood. Good basic premise for why she does what she does.
Every game played like a movie that you participate in through actual gameplay. Why did they have to "reboot" her to make her grittier when the old version of her was just as good?
She was the over the top exaggerated action heroine. She exuded confidence, style, and nothing phased her. Did the big tiddies and booty shorts really trigger leftists because it made soyboy peepees hard and gave overweight landwhales "muh image" issues?

I think protagonist games that are woke are not doing that well. The exception being horizon zero dawn.
