Do you think of just "white Americans" only? The racist South African former government official is basically the savior of mankind. The similarly ruthless Russian religious fanatics also have things done on their own turf.
Meanawhile North Korean radical strategy literally killed them all, and Pakistan and India just destroyed each other with nuclear weapons right away. And its all China's fault to begin with.
(Slow zombies would never gain overwhelming numbers in any armed society, the entire premise is flawed in writing a "realistic" book. The both original Night of the Dead films show it right, and the original Dawn to some degree in at least the first part too.)
Just kill all the zombies when they're still very few. That's it. That's all. There were even months to do it in the book, but in Nights the panic is over they begin effortlessly and systematically eradicating the zombies within hours, which is what would happen (and the people at the house are besieged and die only because they trapped themselves near a cemetery - could and should have left, even by foot, as the sole survivor woman in Savini's version does eventually, just walking out and away, and the heroic black guy was wrong and the cowardly Jew was right, and he would survive too if she just didn't shoah him upon return in the scene that I linked).
I liked the fast zombies trend while it was a thing. A horde of angry, sprinting madmen that ignore pain is a really good apocalypse. And it works well in non American countries.

Live in the north, survive until the first hard frost, go around bashing frozen zombies heads in.
Boom, problem solved.

Zombies aren't really the best apocalypse. They require a lot of dumb decisions on the protagonist's part. It really pulls me out of the story.

That's why you need Nazi zombies
Besides the American military being too hi-tech with useless fancy weapons?
