Can someone give me the short version because I do not fucking care enough to watch a 30 minute video about this bullshit.
Here's a short-ish version.
Wizards of the coast (the people who make d&d) have been kissing sjw ass for a while now, Twitch leaks showed CR made 9.6 mil, and lefties are filled with envy so now want to eat them all alive. CR says their 3rd campaign will be in a world with SWANA (Southwest asian/north african) cultures. CR says they're going to hire "sensitivity consultants" to help make it. CR eventually does a trailer with their characters which switches to themselves dressed in costume. The costumes are somewhat reminiscent of Indiana Jones, Uncharted, The Mummy etc. and everyone's jumps on them because that's "colonialist" and "traumatic" for "PoC". The writer argues that they make too much money off it, so they aren't relatable anymore and that it's "not just a game" anymore, that "Material wealth leads to material consequences", and that they're all really really white and that's totally bad m'kay. They claim wizards may end up adopting the setting as official in some books, which makes it worse (and conveniently sets wizards up for the killing blow of calling them out/disassociating with them).
Summary: they are white people trying to navigate the leftist gauntlet.
If they had not branched out from straight white characters, they would have been accused of racism. You can't simply exist as a successful troupe of white performers.
When they did branch out from straight white characters, they were accused of appropriation and colonialism. Doesn't matter that they hired consultants and said all the right things. As a white person, you are not permitted to depict non-whites.
When they spent an entire eight episode series letting new players "of color" take over the show, no one watched. Because Mercer and his friends are clearly the draw.
This is what happens when you court a woke leftist audience. They're always looking for an anti-white angle, and eventually they'll find one.
so, just resentment from the losers.
Leftism in a nutshell
Honestly, no. But I can make one up that seems likely.
Kotaku are pissed they don't get invited along in some fashion and being the crabs in a bucket that wokesters are they're pulling down the ones who are having some good times.
