Also way worse muscle anatomy than Rob Liefeld's.
Superman looks all wrong to my old eyes. Stretched out, and missing his red undies.
His physique isn't the only thing that's stretched out.
cos that's not superman
I will defend Liefeld TO THE DEATH.
Many of the inaccuracies of his work are not as egregious as they might look - unless you spend your life looking at posing bodybuilders, you're likely to be shocked by the shapes their bodies can take on in certain positions/angles, and that's what he was referencing.
Beyond that, Liefeld's work had IMPACT. He was stylistically ICONIC. You look at a comic drawn by him, and you instantly KNOW it's by him. With other artists, it's often hard to definitively identify them by their art style unless you're really familiar with their work, but with Liefeld, anyone can identify his work a mile away. It's just so distinctively and consistently him. And that's what made him a superstar.
Most other artists would kill for level recognition Liefeld has.
If Liefeld was doing it wrong, then doing it 'right' isn't all it's cooked up to be.
There are just countless manga artists drawing impossible musclemen and yet they get the anatomy right. They can also easily draw people from any perspective, in any pose, and of course they are able to draw feet too. And detailed and imaginative and convincing backgrounds like if they were architects. It's just the Western comic books have shit art in general.
Speaking of them feet, check out the feet here lol (top of the first image).
This is a very fair point. No one bought image comics because 'muh anatomy'.
I can't completely support your suggestion for what he was really referencing BUT it doesn't matter because his style is his style and that's kind of where it ends. And the legacy speaks for itself
Go away, Rob.
Then you'd be an idiot.
Captain America. Look it up.
What’s wrong with his gut?
