I pay $450/mo mortgage for a house with two beds and one bath with a carport. I am not in the middle of nowhere either; I live in a medium sized town that is part of a large metro area. Plenty of bars (several of which have live music) and great restaurants as well as movie theaters. No huge music venue or world class art museum in my town but so what? I have already done my share of visiting fancy art museums and I have seen a HUGE number of great artists live in concert.
