They have no meaning or value in their own lives (they see themselves as victims or failures), and so they have to attach themselves to a revolutionary movement that will change things to avoid feeling completely powerless and wanting to kill themselves.
It’s sad because there are perfectly good existing values and identities that they could adopt, but they would need to stop hating first to see that.
It’s all just a rebellion against the way they were treated as children. (that’s why they seem stuck in the past) A lot of the well off ones become antifa because they feel like the evil capitalist system robbed them of a good family life. (due to their parent’s obsession with money and their career)
