My thoughts on the matter is that they are pushing female games in order to push for females in sports. No one thinks they will get their money worth and I doubt the event will increase the diversity of the shooting games in a meaningful way.
I would not be surprised that this is being pushed thru diversity and inclusion departments, that are money burners with no metrics for increasing eficiency or profitability so there is no incentive to be a good investment.
If this was to come thru an investment/ marketing/ innovation department then they would expect to have a net benefit from their investment.
On a different note, I see that in the comments they are saying that there are female pros in Valorant. Has anyone looked in to that? Is there like a large number of high tier Valorant female players?
Is Valorant even making any progress as an esport? Not seeing much about it, but I might just be out of the loop.

Ahh, so it is dead then as an esport.
It's like Rocket League, low audience figures propped up by people farming Twitch Drops.
Not sure, but I did like the game when it came out, a lot more then Overwatch. I was expecting it to do well.
A lot of CSGO players moved to Valorant, but idk much about their pro scene.
