Yes. Firstly, if we stayed neutral the conditions of the deal would not apply, so what's the problem?. What is the argument here? "If we entered the war and this arrangement was accepted by Mexico they would invade us so we should- enter the war?" If we don't enter the war there's no reason to enter the war. You're literally falling for 100 year old propaganda; it should be past its Best By date at this point.
If it doesn't violate US sovereignty fuck it. Who cares. Think how simple this makes it. Some telegram? What did it say? It doesn't matter not our sovereign territory, fuck it. What if Mexico invades? Then that is our sovereign territory so we'll fuck them up if it comes to that. Germany is trying to recapture territory it lost the last time? Not our sovereign territory, fuck it. Soviets are supporting communist rebels in east asia? Fuck it. Soviets is doing that again? Not our sovereign territory, fuck it. Iraqi troops are throwing babies out of incubators in Kuwait. Is it true? Doesn't matter not our sovereign territory, fuck it. Some planes hit our towers? That is our sovereign territory. Let's fuck some shit up and then leave after we fuck said shit up instead of staying there because it isn't our sovereign territory. Weapons of mass destruction? Is it true? Doesn't matter. That's not our fucking sovereign territory. Chemical weapons dropped on civilians? Who did it? It doesn't matter because it wasn't our sovereign territory. It's so simple you don't even need an intelligence agency!
No one is trying to argue how correct the decision was from the perspective of people living 100 years later you buffoon. You're grossly over simplifying the issue by pretending that the only reason anyone wanted to go to war was because Europe was at war already.
You ignore the fact that many politicians and citizens saw this as an attack on our sovereignty and a betrayal by trying to turn our neighbor against us. You're an absolute fool to judge that sentiment by your own 100 years later.
How about you talk about contemporary examples like the war on terror instead of trying to seem smart by talking about a war you know little about.
Nah, man. It's not "over simplified;" it's actually just overly simple. You are talking yourself in circles because you are wrong and you realized that you are wrong but you got to save face. It doesn't matter though; we're all friends here.
You're kidding right? You are ignoring the cultural and societal context of the telegram and the war because you cannot possibly think anyone has ever had a different thought in their head than the ones you have.
I am right, you're wrong, and I don't give a shit what some ignorant zoomer thinks.
No, you see, tHE CuLturAL ANd soCietaL cONteXt, was it was used as propaganda to get america involved in a war that wasn't to their benefit and was generally disastrous for all involved. My point is MAYBE DON'T FUCKING DO THAT. Maybe adopt a system where that type of propaganda doesn't have a purpose because our policy is TO NOT GET INVOLVED IN CONFLICTS OUTSIDE OUR SOVEREIGN TERRITORY!
