I once watched a movie with a scene that reproduced actual historical events. Prisoners were dressed in nicer clothing to look like porters, greeting well-to-do jews from Holland who had just arrived by train with their luggage. They would escort them towards the entrance of the camp, disguised to look like a train station and resort. The guards would play classical music as porters piled the luggage onto trollies to be taken to the sorting warehouse and the 'guests' towards the gas chambers. Those with no marketable skills, such as the rich educated elites who had arrived in the scene, were simply swept away to be exterminated whole sale after being asked to strip and bathe for health purposes. It made it easier to sort their wealth and dispose of the bodies. People with marketable skills were identified by their paperwork before arriving at the camp, this determined which side of the camp they were 'escorted' into. It was all very well organized, the people were so very obliging and helpful, such an efficiently run program from the state and their willing populace.
Very different to the standard way the Holocaust is portrayed, then...
I'm more used to the "La Vita è Bella"-style portrayal (brilliant film, btw, if very, very sad)... I wasn't aware some Jews were actively TRICKED into going into the death camps... :-/
That's... Actually worse, somehow, which is extraordinarily depressing...

What's the movie, if you don't mind my asking?
That sounds about as plausible as the mastrubation machines to me. Especially given how it's coming from a movie.
They also got a fun rollercoaster ride to truly acclimate them to the luxury of the camps before they were asked to shower
