Adblock and extension to always play in highest 4k quality. Watch a video logged out and then leave the site. Never watch recommended, don't load more comments, don't vote.
Using Youtube as a video player is the biggest finger to Google because they're losing money hand over fist that way. They make money on ads and interaction. Leaving a comment or voting (even downvoting) keeps other people, some without adblock, on the site to see the value you added.
Not OP, but the android app, Newpipe, is a good way to watch YouTube without actually going to the site. It's open source, blocks ads, let's you listen to videos in the background, subscribe to channels, and bypass age restrictions without a Google account. I've been using it for a while and aside from occasional minor bugs, it's been great.
You can find it for free on the F-Droid store, if you're interested.
Suspect this is some A/B testing and that won't last long.
I recommend Odysee.
Yeah that was what I was thinking too, they will be rolling it out sitewide eventually. Odysee is a very good alternative, even with its faults.
I'm still seeing downvotes on all youtube videos, even when logged in. So maybe it's not fully implemented yet.
Also, you can just open a private browsing window rather than logging out.
If you have Brave browser they still show I think. It is on mine.
Everything gets a thumbs down now... on principle. Symbolic

These days I just download videos with youtube-dl and watch that way.
Yeah good.
yt-dlp is the most active fork I think, has age-gate bypass.
curious to know how you set this up, please describe
First result for RSS feed YouTube

Basically you grab the RSS feed url of a YouTubers and stick it in an RSS reader. Update every whatever.. 20 mins and see the new vids.

Get the add-on people. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/return-youtube-dislikes/
Youtube doesn't remove the dislike count through their API, meaning a simple add-on like this can return it.
Better to use Odysee or some other alternative. YT makes shit worse
From what I’ve read they will in the middle of next month, so this won’t work for very long.
Its just not everywhere.
What sorcery is this?
Is this whole downvote thing in effect everywhere cause i can still downvote any video
VISIBILITY OF THE DOWNVOTES WAS REMOVED
