I really need a breakdown of why the 70s, 80s, and 90s (especially the 80s) was when the decline started to manifest in a more ruthless manner? I'm not sure if there are many authors who would be capable of breaking down the elements that enabled the decline without inserting obnoxiously overt leftist views.
Cold war started after WW2. Spies trained. Spies inbedded.
Spies are not aiming to get military secrets, the USSR already had nukes. Their goal was to ruin society, cause stability collapse.
Spies get into teaching positions. They slowly work to cause minor problems, and then normalize the problems so no one fixes them. They then work on training new agents who aren't even loyal to the USSR, instead, they're loyal to the concept of maintaining and worsening those minor problems. Flash-forward a generation of indoctrination, and the USSR crumbles: All the spies leave (or most of them). But those indoctrinated problem-worseners are still there, not loyal to the USSR, not doing it for them, but instead doing it out of their programming. They teach a new generation. Flash forward 2 generations, and you have masses in the streets chanting "no USA at all" and burning US flags... While loving every aspect of being in the USA, they hate it for no logical or even emotional reason, simply because they were indoctrinated by an ever-worsening tide of indoctrinators and normalizers to do so.
Lookup Yuri Bezmenov. Ex-USSR agent. Explains the whole thing in detail.

Our leftist traitors were being boosted full ham by the Soviet Union
The Soviets started infiltrating academia from the start of the cold war.
Maybe you remember sayings like "it's only a phase" or "they'll grow out of it" being used to describe the socialist agitators at universities...
Well, these same people have graduated and are now your presstitutes, judges, lawmakers etc.
You don't need some long breakdown...
