Labor Day Weekend is traditionally one of the busiest gang-banger shootout periods of the whole year. I wouldn't be surprised at all if 80 people got shot that weekend, though it would be unlikely for all of them to be under 18.
Hot weather holidays tend to go pretty terribly in crime-riddled shitholes. The part-time thugs and part-time junkies go haywire.
