Southwest kicked a passenger off even though she complied with wearing a mask because "That's what happens when you don't say you're sorry."
Delta kicked a passenger off because she talked to another passenger that wasn't wearing his mask properly and therefore was guilty by association and banned the SEAL who killed Bin Laden.
American is probably the best of the bunch as far as this, but that's not saying much. They are giving employees who get vaccinated an extra vacation day and a $50 gift card. Here's a quote from their CEO from a NYT interview:
And when you look beyond just the vaccine issue specifically, for example, American has been fighting Texas over the voting integrity law there. (Delta has also been fighting Georgia over their law.) All three voiced support for BLM.
So the answer isn't no, it's hell fucking no, they don't deserve our support. They are enemies of the American people just as United is.
Which makes me think they only walked this back because they're already bleeding employees due to the unemployment cash train and more threatened to walk or get forcibly fired if they went through with it. I can only speculate, but if bargin airlines like SW are walking this back then it might have been a substantial number.
I think you might be right, but it’s worth noting that Southwest isn’t really a bargain airline like they used to be. In some ways (free bags) they behave more like the legacy carriers used to than the legacy carriers themselves do now.
The real bargain carriers are the likes of Frontier (mandating vaccines), Spirit (not mandating), and Allegiant (hasn’t said either way). I think that variation says a lot.
