KotakuInAction1 does itself a disservice by forcing everyone to keep their posting related to video-game-related happenings.
Eh, that's a completely valid mission statement. Not everyone has to want to be in the culture war.
My objection would be it was obviously done against the will of the userbase, who were interested in such things. That's what I object to. I've got nothing against a community that either doesn't want to be political, or wants to focus on a certain subset of politics. But I despise the censorship and authoritarianism of trying to stop people who want to talk about such things from doing so.
But, hey, it's not all bad. That's how we ended up with the based KiA2.
Disagree completely. The notion that you can call out bad video game journalism without ever noticing or addressing the fact that literally every bad journo is a frothing radical leftist is asinine.
I'm just saying, if a community wants to focus on video game related politics, I don't have an issue with that. For the record, I absolutely agree that they're related, and it would be pretty obtuse, but not everyone wants to be bombarded with this nonsense day in and day out. If people just want to talk vidya and game journo soyboys, that's fine with me. The people that want to talk about other more meaningful stuff still can too. The only reason halfKiA and KiA2 had to split is because the mods were deciding what people could talk about. And that's the bad part.
Honestly, considering there is so much activity in KiA2, it's pretty obvious that most people did want to talk about things beyond vidya. I was mostly arguing the theoretical anyway. Obviously people do want to talk broader politics, and I agree that's a good thing.
