Pavlovian conditioning exists, boys.
It worked for me. I married a man who is a better person than I so I take super good care of him so he won't notice. Everything cooked from scratch, clean socks and underwear, etc... 33 years later he still thinks he got a good deal and he treats me like a queen.
They're not talking about forming a long term, positive relationship. I guess I can only think of male equivalents, but it's less Promise Keepers, more frat boys gathered around a keg scheming ways to get some. But with more material goods involved.
Ewww, for some reason frat boys were never attractive to me, too effeminate. I like men I would trust with a chainsaw. I did dumb stuff young, but I eventually figured it out and snared a very good man who other woman had ignored. Women really can be idiots. My husband was quiet, nerdy and didn't dress well. We met rock climbing so you can image how good he looked under the bad clothes. I just changed the clothes. He is still extremely fit and now as we age he looks better compared to his peers. He is kind, brilliant and hard working, but he was not shiny and got ignored. Also hilariously funny
Yeah, that's pretty much the exact opposite of what FDS preaches. The concept of "find a good, stable man that'll treat you like a queen, and then treat him like a king" is completely alien to them. In a situation like what your man had, they'd do the female equivalent of a "hump 'n dump", but with his wallet instead of in the sack.
Sounds like a good deal for both parties.
