Called it back when Gee Dubs first announced Warhammer Plus and took the Astartes videos off of youtube. They're going to kill every fan work that they can't subsume into their sub service, because they think being the only game in town will increase engagement rather than decrease it.
My irl fren didn't want to believe me, but I've been collecting and playing fantasy for 20+ years now and this is how GW has always been. They never learn from their gross missteps, and the market isn't big enough for them to get punished for it. Warmachine might have been a technically better game, but the lore wasn't there and I think that company folded anyways
They'd argue not officially taken down, but essentially they demanded it be pulled from YT and instead they're hosting it on their special Warhammer App.

Fantasy and 40k for 20+ years myself. At this point, I'm just going to laugh when GW goes under and Tencent buys and guts them.
Pretty sure privateer press are still around. No idea if they're on the rocks or doing pretty well though.
Sounds like the beancounters have done the math. (spoiler: what the consoom crowd actually wants was never a factor)
