Just when you think we have reached the height of stupidity, Epicurious (an astonishingly stupid name to begin with) decides to cancel beef because... climate change.
Today we announced that Epicurious is cutting out beef. It won’t appear in new Epi recipes, articles, newsletters, or on social. This isn’t a vendetta against cows or people who eat them. It’s a shift about sustainability; not anti-beef but pro-planet.
Our mission hasn’t changed. As always, we hope to inspire home cooks to be better, smarter, and happier in the kitchen. We understand you’re going to have questions, and we’ve tried to anticipate some of them. We’re also here to continue the conversation.
This is not a cooking site, it is a cult.
Every organization populated by pronouns types eventually becomes indistinguishable, it's the same BLM, climate change, feminism blather that you can't tell from any other or an activist organization.
Bon Appetit did a similar thing where they wiped out their existing talent to make room for people of diversity after the first round of Floyd riots. Amazingly they dropped their viewership by an order of magnitude at a time when interest in home cooking is unusually high and now 90% of their videos is the same low-T white guy anyway. At least one of their previous presenters started her own channel and is consistently outperforming them out of her home.
Unless I'm conflating two separate internet spats, I think that came from Sohla who they shitcanned after that. But before she was at BA, she was with Serious Eats and also caused drama there, some metoo shit if I recall correctly.
Now she's attached to soyboy Babish's channel. Can't wait til she crashes and burns his reddit-tier shit too.
His views have tanked since then. He'll get his previous average views on big specials, and most of his shit does half of what he used to pull. Meanwhile, she rarely gets a tenth of his views. His channel is dying, oh no.
I've noticed this as well.
I think it's in part due to the fact that his channels initial gimmick is kind of worked out. How many "Dish X" from "Show Y" are left to do?
Beyond that, almost every single attempt he's made to expand beyond that format has not gone well. Sohla and the "Babish Culinary Universe" have been cringe.
I say this as someone who genuinely likes Babish too!
